CST: All For Solarizing Schools

On June 30, 2010, the American Reinvestment & Recovery Act provided funding for 15 public schools throughout New Mexico to purchase and install 50 kW solar energy systems. The projects were to be completed by December 31st that year – a short six-month span. CST worked at record speed to fully install and activate systems at six of the 15 schools ahead of the December deadline.

Though it was no small task, we’re very proud to say that it went off without a hitch. CST is invested in the betterment of our community, and solar not only saves the schools money but also the taxpayers funding those public schools.

Each system consists of approximately 230 solar panels. CST is honored to have installed solar arrays at the following school districts:

  • Belen Consolidated School District
  • Dulce School District
  • Hatch Valley Public Schools
  • Los Lunas Public Schools
  • Moriarty/Edgewood Public Schools
  • Rio Rancho Public Schools

Outside of that special funding program, CST has continued our mission to solarize New Mexico’s educational facilities. Other schools that we’ve solarized include Sandia Prep, Albuquerque Academy, Capital High School and the national award-winning Amy Biehl Community School in Santa Fe. At CST, we work to spread the light of solar energy today for the benefit of tomorrow’s youth.
